Thank you to all of the volunteers, donors, and community partners who participated in the 2017 March Food Drive! With the help of individuals, families, religious organizations, and local businesses, Merrick’s Food Shelf collected over 4,000 pounds groceries to distribute to neighbors in need. Generous donors also contributed more than $85,000 in monetary donations to support food purchases throughout the year. During the month of March, 140 volunteers gave more than 800 hours of their time at the Food Shelf. We could not have done it without you. Thank you!

Participant Voices

“I went from referring people to the food shelf to being a client of the food shelf… And I had to find ways to access resources just in order to live.”
–Moussa Foster, Merrick Food Shelf Participant

“It’s not just about giving people food, it’s about getting to know them and their stories, getting to know your community and helping out in the small ways you can.”
