Merrick’s Employment & Career Services helps participants identify services, training, and support that fit their goals. Our team takes time to understand your skills, interests, education, and unique situation so you can move toward a suitable job with confidence.

Build confidence using computers, email, online applications, and other digital tools.

Workshops

Join monthly sessions on résumés, applications, interviews, and financial literacy.

Mini job fairs

Meet local employers at focused hiring events held in the spring and fall.

Technology & Career Lab appointments

Get one-on-one help updating your résumé, applying for jobs, preparing for interviews, and learning the digital skills today’s job searches require.

General Entrepreneur Training Program

A paid, six-week training program for adults who are ready to develop a business idea.

Program details

  • Bring your own entrepreneur idea to develop
  • Six weeks of paid training at $18 per hour
  • In-person classes Monday through Thursday
  • Anticipated class time: 9:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
  • Laptop and support cards included

 

Program run dates: October 19–December 3, 2026. No class will be held on Thanksgiving Day, and there are no Friday classes.

Application timing: The competitive intake application will be posted on this page beginning September 1, 2026. Please read the application directions carefully before applying.
