Merrick’s Career Resource Center enables residents to identify and secure a career in the field of their choice. Trained employment specialists will assess participants’ work skills, interests, and education to help them successfully navigate the employment search and interviewing process. Services and resources offered include work preparedness skills, resume writing guidance, job retention consultation, access to resources for or regarding obtaining appropriate work clothing and/or tools in addition to transportation assistance, and finding appropriate training/educational opportunities to get you where you want to be in your career. In addition, our newly revamped education and technology center allows participants access to use computers, printer, copy, and fax machine, in support of job attainment.

TRAINING PROGRAMS

Merrick’s Career Services programming is dedicated to providing resources and skills training to assist participants in identifying training opportunities to prepare for a career.  These resources provide unemployed and underemployed adults with; resume building, job searches, email access, job readiness training, professional computer skills, as well as help to identify employment references, and interview skills.

LEARN AND EARN OPPORTUNITIES

Human Services Pathway (click here for more details)

Merrick, in partnership with HIRED and KOM (Karen Organization of MN) is offering paid training for a Human Services career. This formal 8 week educational program component will be followed by a 6 week paid internship, and finally a job placement.  You will leave this program with a specific credential as a Community Support Specialist so that you are ready to pursue an exciting career in Human Services. We will support you along the way.

Entrepreneur Career Pathway (click here for more details)

Get the education and mentorship necessary to develop your own business plan and get the support you need while Learning and Earning. In partnership with the LEDC (Latino Economic Development Center), Merrick is offering this paid training program which includes entrepreneurial business training along with real world experience and shadowing from established entrepreneurs, and then eventual start up support.

MPOWER

Youth Career Exposure and mentorship program created to develop the skills our young people already possess. Through this college and career exposure program, students will get paid to explore the pathways to careers that interest them. This program is for high school students age 14-18 in Ramsey County with a focus on the East Side of Saint Paul. If you are a High School Student interested in our 8-week program, a community member willing to share knowledge and time with our youth, or representing a company/organization willing to offer site tours, job shadowing, or internships, please fill out the application below.

The xChange is a collaboration of 11 non-profit organizations helping East Side Saint Paul residents through a coordinated effort to provide outreach, skills training, life coaching, and various community supports.  East Side residents who choose to connect with Merrick’s employment programs enjoy the benefits of working with employment specialists who are connected across a large network of providers, giving you the job/education/skills seeker access to this broad network and all of its resources.
