Food Shelf

Providing a variety of high-quality foods and household supplies, Merrick’s Food Shelves are dedicated to connecting families and individuals with community resources to help eliminate the long-term causes of hunger. These services are offered to participants by distributing nutritious foods through a client-choice model.

If you are looking to donate food, here are some items that we specifically need:

  1. Cooking oils and vinegars such as canola oil, olive oil, chili oil, sesame oil, rice vinegar, Mirin and any other cooking oils or vinegars.
  2. Spices: dried chilies of all varieties, cumin, coriander, garlic, ginger, turmeric, thyme, curry, Cajun seasoning, bay leaves, cloves, nutmeg, cardamom, star anise, all spice, sage, and any other spices.
  3. Cooking Sauces: Tamari or generic soy sauce, fish sauce, Tamarind paste, fermented bean pastes, chili pastes, coconut milk, Oyster sauce, Garlic Chili Sauce, Sriracha or any other broths and sauces.
  4. Proteins: Almond butter, cashew butter, spam, tuna, canned chicken, smoked salmon, sardines, smoked eel, or any other shelf stable proteins.
  5. Grains: Jasmine rice, basmati rice, apple brand sweet rice, Kokuhu rice, Nishiki rice, artisian egg noodles, rice noodles, Soba noodles, corn flour, other flours such as almond flour or any other grains.

Meals on Wheels

The Merrick Meals on Wheels program is dedicated to providing services that enable area seniors to remain independent and to continue living in their own homes for as long as possible. 

Meals are delivered by volunteers Monday through Thursday between 10:30am – 12:30pm.
